That is a very valid question that many tend to ask so we are more than happy to answer that for you here at Bright White Window Service.

While we cannot say with certainty what other window cleaning companies do or do not do any why we can certainly guarantee what we do every single cleaning, with some exceptions of course.

Cleaning The Glass

This no doubt is obvious, however, it all depends on what you would like cleaned; for example it could just be exterior window cleaning, which is perfectly fine and not uncommon for many to request only the exterior of your windows to be cleaned and from here this takes us to our second point in the service:

    Cleaning Screens

This again seems pretty straight forward, we clean the screens because after all you cannot have a clean window and have a dirty screen it just doesn’t work. The exception with this is sun screens, which can and will take more time to clean and will; be assessed and discussed with you prior to starting any work. The reason for this can vary but one factor is time, this are usually drilled into the window frame or there are little wingnuts that keep the screen in place and it can be tedious to take apart etc. Any additional screens such as solar screens etc. would be an additional cost.

    Window Tracks

This is the biggest one we get; do you clean the window tracks, and the answer is YES! Some tend to be a little trickier than others, but we do a thorough job in cleaning up the window tracks, this helps keep the windows from, what seems like to us, from sticking and getting to jam packed with dirt, debris, and everything that gets stuck in the small tight areas of your window.

What we would like to clear up is that we do not physically remove the sliding part of the window, also known as a sash. Very rarely will we remove this and the reason is as the framing of your home  settles the header above the window can start to sag pressing into the window making it either very difficult to slide at all and or even remove.

In connection we have it could be that even if we are able to remove the sash it can be very difficult to pop back into place and it can certainly become a liability and we certainly do not want any client to have to struggle with any of this. In some cases the sash just cannot be removed at all.

However, you can be certain that we will in fact do our very best to get the best clean on your tracks for you.

Now let’s transition into the biggest question of our service and what it DOES NOT include and why:

ADDITIONAL: Hard Water, Paint Overspray, Silicone etc. Removal.

This can be a big misunderstanding and that some feel that this should be part of the service and the reason why it is not included is because of the additional time and often, the chemicals used, to remove the hard water spots, paint overspray, silicone and other debris etc. that can make their way onto the glass. We have seen so many things stuck to windows from everything mentioned above to stickers and decals that have been baked onto the glass, mortar or thinnest from interior and/or exterior windows, excess drywall, you name it we have seen it. The largest factor is time and material to remove these products off the glass effectively and efficiently.

What is included is the removal of other organic matter such as bird droppings, dust, dirt pollen etc. This for sure is included in the service that we provide.

Most do not mind hard water spots if they are light, many would just like their windows to look better, however if you have some heavy hard water spots that have been on the window for…… maybe decades this would be extremely difficult and even next to impossible to remove because what happens is the water essentially digs into the glass and embeds itself and overtime in connection with the sun it builds and build an builds until you see large white deposits of calcium. These deposits can start for a number of different reasons, nearby damaged sprinkler, maybe the sprinkler is working but the wind caught the water and pushed it onto the glass. When someone hits that perfect cannonball into the pool that can also cause some water spots.

We aren’t saying we don’t cover the removal of these materials but we can remove them or even make them look better at an additional cost.

I have greatly enjoyed and have appreciated the ability to answer any questions that we have been asked and we will continue to provide the best service that we possibly can in our local area. I hope this has helped answer some questions or concerns that you may have had, if not send us an email: hello@brightwhitews.com
